Disadvantages of biofuel Print E-mail
You consistently hear people raving about how great
biofuels are, when the truth of the matter is there are more
disadvantages of biofuel then there are advantages. Yes, the fuel is
supposed to enable us to stop foreign trade with the Middle East for
things such as oil that we use to power our motor vehicles and for
other things as well. The fuel is being made into an ethanol gas that
will soon be converted to be put into all vehicles. The fuel is
supposed to be environment friendly, but the truth of the matter is,
don't bet your life on that accusation. There are four main
disadvantages of biofuel that people have been able to figure out
through the whole debate to utilize the fuel as a means to supply
energy to everyone who resides in the United States as well as other
parts of the world. The first disadvantage is the carbon emission.
Biofuels do emit less carbon then fossil fuels but the truth is they
are still sending out carbon into our ecosystem. We consistently keep
investing money in things that will lower carbon emissions yet were
blasting it into the air every time that biofuels are manufactured.
Another big problem that has been troubling people about this biofuel
phenomenon, is the fact that land is being taken up to burn and harvest
crops for this fuel while the people of the world are left to have to
pay higher prices for crops and things of that nature. The less space
that is given to grow crops the more people have to inadvertently pay
to have those natural things that should be no ailment to get. Is fuel
more important then food for your people?
Another one of the big disadvantages of biofuel is the land use for the
fuel. This is not the same as taking food out of people's mouths. In
fact it affects our climate as well as our ecosystem. Land is being
cleared so it can support the expansion of the biofuel corporations.
The only thing that the corporations are doing in return is helping to
further burn its way to a hotter more temperate climate. Global warming
has always been a major problem, however now that biofuels are involved
it's about to increase significantly.
The overall cost of making biofuels is in fact a lot more then it would
be to use natural sources such as wind turbines or things of that
nature as a form of renewable energy. Fields have to be tilled, and
crops have to be grown harvested and then of course burnt in order to
give off the required energy that people are seeking with these fuels.
Things are supposed to get a lot cheaper with new and improved ways to
produce energy instead they are increasing beyond everyone's means.
